Meet our Principal
Ms. Sara Allen
Sara Allen joined United For Success Academy middle school in 2015, following 12 years of service within the San Francisco Unified School District. Her career began in San Francisco at Treasure Island Middle School, where she taught 8th grade Language Arts and History for two years. She continued on in San Francisco where she taught 4th grade at Alvarado Elementay (a Spanish immersion school). Before being named assistant principal at UFSA, she served as an Instructional Coach and Reading Intervention teacher where she served teachers and students in 6th - 8th grade.
Ms. Allen grew up in Oakland and attended school in the Oakland Public Schools, and is a graduate of Skyline High School. She received her undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University, where she also earned a Master's in Elementary Education. This specialty area is the basis of her leadership and teaching approach, as she views literacy in all subject areas as the foundation of academic progress. Ms. Allen earned her second Master's in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University in 2015.
Ms. Allen views a collaborative and supportive school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at UFSA.
Ms. Allen is also an accomplished soccer player. She played for San Francisco State University during her 4 years as an undergraduate, and then became a soccer coach earning a National D coaching license from US Soccer. Ms. Allen’s strong foundation in sports fosters her beliefs that a well rounded student should be encouraged to work hard at what they love to do both in school and out of school. Whether a person plays sports, practices acting or music, is an artist, or has any other possible talent, those talents should be encouraged in every student as they continue their academic career from kindergarten through high school.
During her free time, Ms. Allen continues to play and coach soccer, enjoys reading, walking her dog, and spending time with family.
